About this White Gummy Bear Shot recipe

Shot recipes can be so fun because they are grown-up but can have all the flavor of childhood nostalgia. Take the Tootsie Roll Shot, a two-ingredient tipple that tastes just like the chocolate candy with an adult twist, or the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Shot that’s like drinking boozy cereal milk.

Candy-flavored shots are some of the most fun, because you can get really creative with the combinations. You don’t think they’ll taste good together, but then they miraculously do!

Gummy bears are some of the best candies out there. There is so much to love about those squishy, juicy, little bears! And they make great shots, too. The Gummy Bear Shot is a popular one because it tastes like an entire bag of gummy bears.

These White Gummy Bear shots taste like the pineapple-flavored gummy bear, but to me, they taste like fruit punch! These shots include raspberry vodka, peach schnapps, pineapple juice and lemon-lime soda. You can even double the batch to make a perfectly sippable White Gummy Bear Martini!

Why you’ll love this recipe

White Gummy Bear Shots offer a fun twist on your usual party time shots. They’re as delicious on a regular Friday night as they are for a celebration like bachelorette parties.

  • If you love pineapple gummy bears, you’ll love the tropical flavors of these shots that taste like boozy bears.
  • These playful and flavorful shots are perfect for parties. Garnish them with real gummy bears for an elevated look.
  • The fruity flavors in this shot are like a party in every sip! From sweet-tart raspberry to soft peach and tropical pineapple to sour lemon-and-lime soda, create a sweet candy-like experience.

Tools & glassware

To make these shots, get out a cocktail shaker, strainer and jigger. These are part of a basic bartending set, so if you have one, you’re good to go.

If you don’t, you can measure the ingredients in tablespoons: 1 ounce is equal to 2 tablespoons. (And ¼ ounce is equal to ½ tablespoon.)

And of course, you’ll need shot glasses! These shots are about 2½ fluid ounces, so use that size. You can add them to 1-ounce glasses, just shake them up first and strain them into the glasses to get about two shots’ worth in one go. These are very easy to make in a big batch.

Ingredients

Here’s what you will need to make these pineapple gummy bear shots! You’ll need to hit the vodka and liqueur sections of your liquor store.

  • raspberry vodka: You’ll want to use a clear-colored raspberry vodka. If you use one that is made with red food color, it wouldn’t be a White Gummy Bear Shot! You can use pineapple vodka for a stronger pineapple flavor, but I like the fruity punch of the raspberry in this drink for more layers of flavor.
  • peach schnapps: This delightful peach liqueur brings a touch of fun to your bar cart. Try it in a peach mule or peach margaritas! You can use triple sec instead if you like.
  • pineapple juice: A splash of pineapple juice adds the white gummy bear flavor to these shots. (If you’re allergic to pineapple like me, you can sub orange juice and it’s still delicious and tastes very tropical!)
  • lemon-lime soda: For a hint of bubbles and added flavor, a splash of Sprite or 7-Up does the trick. It can be skipped though if you don’t have it!

For a non-alcoholic version, substitute the vodka for more pineapple juice, and peach juice for the peach schnapps.

Garnishes

Shots aren’t always garnished, but it sure takes them up a notch! You can use real gummy bears as a garnish. (You can even make your own gummy bears!)

  • You can add one into the shot glass. (Just be sure to tell everyone before they drink it so they don’t choke.)
  • Cut a slit in the gummy bear and perch it on the edge of the glass.
  • Spear them with a cocktail pick (sorry bears!) and rest it inside or on top of the shot glass. (This is super cute if you are serving it in a martini glass, too.)

Variations & substitutions

Shake things up with one of these variations on the white gummy bear shot:

Other flavors of gummy bears: You can switch up the vodka to make an entire rainbow of gummy bear shots:

  • Red gummy bear shot: Use cherry vodka — a red-colored one is ideal if you want a redder color. A drop of red food coloring in the cocktail shaker will work too!
  • Orange gummy bear shot: Pour in orange whiskey or orange vodka instead, and use orange juice instead of pineapple juice. The orange whiskey is so good in the orange tea shot!
  • Yellow gummy bear shot: Use lemon vodka or limoncello, and sub sour mix for pineapple juice.
  • Green gummy bear shot: Substitute green apple vodka or schnapps, and use sour mix instead of pineapple juice.

Other gummies: Have fun with non-bear-shaped gummies. For example, use gummy worms instead of bears to make a gummy worm shot for Halloween!

White gummy bear cocktail: Shake up a double batch of this shot recipe, but instead of pouring it into shot glasses, use a cocktail glass. Garnish with a cocktail pick of bears, or even a piece of fresh pineapple! This is ideal for those who’d rather sip their shots than kick them back like a college student.

Instructions

Let’s make some white gummy bear shots! Here’s what to do:

A hand pouring water from a metal jigger into a clear glass tumbler against a white background.
Pouring water from a metal can into a clear textured glass, with a blurred background showing a dish of colorful candies.
A hand pouring a golden liquid from a metal jug into a clear textured glass on a white background.

In a cocktail shaker filled with ice cubes, add raspberry vodka, peach schnapps and pineapple juice. Shake vigorously to chill the ingredients.

Liquid being poured from a shaker into a glass jar, with gummy bears on a plate and scattered nearby on a white surface.
Hand pouring clear soda from a green can into a glass jar, next to a small dish with gummy bears.
Hand dipping a gold ring into a small jar filled with a clear liquid.

Strain into a shot glass. Top with a splash of lemon-lime soda.

Add a white gummy bear garnish, or drop a couple into the glass! (But be sure to tell anyone before they take the shot.) Then throw them back and enjoy — responsibly, please!

Tips & tricks

Set yourself up for success to make these the best White Gummy Bear shots.

  • Chill your shot glasses for an hour beforehand to keep the shots nice and cold.
  • You can also chill the ingredients. Lemon-lime soda will have better carbonation if it’s cold. Your freezer doesn’t get cold enough for vodka to freeze, so you can stash it in there for a bit to chill up.
  • Make a big batch to serve the group — mix up everything except the soda ahead of time and stick it in the refrigerator. Then pour the mixture into chilled shot glasses, about ¾-full, and top up with a little soda.
Two small jars of a light-colored drink with gummy bears on skewers. A gold cocktail shaker and jigger are in the background, with a small plate of gummy bears nearby.

Food pairings

Fruity shots are also great with your favorite made-at-home bar snacks like cheesy steak nachos and saucy chicken wings.

If you have leftover gummies, use them to make vodka-infused gummy bears! You can also use rum, tequila or another alcohol if you prefer. Here are some of my favorite versions:
