Rum Gummy Bears are a fun and fruity boozy treat! Get creative with flavors to make mini versions of your favorite rum cocktails. They’re the perfect summer poolside snack!
Have you ever heard of Rum Gummy Bears?
If you haven’t, you’re welcome for the gift that I’m about to give you. If you love gummy candy and rum, Rum Gummy Bears are about to become your new favorite thing.
Rum Gummy Bears are exactly what they sound like: gummy bears soaked in your favorite rum.
Think of them as gummy-bear-shaped jell-o shots. Who knew that there was something more fun to eat than jell-o shots?
They’re boozy and fruity, and so fun to snack on any time of the year! I love making them for a bachelorette party or for snacking on by the pool in the summertime.
They go down easy, so pace yourself!
HOW TO MAKE RUM GUMMY BEARS
Rum Gummy Bears are the easiest thing in the world to make. No exaggeration. HOW simple are they?
Step 1: Buy gummy candy.
Step 2: Add your favorite plain or flavored rum.
Step 3: Wait patiently (12 to 24 hours).
Step 4: Eat!
Seriously, that’s it. I told you they were easy to make!
And because Rum Gummy Bears are so easy to make and customize, you can make as big or small of a batch as you want. Make them for a big party or just for a weekend girls’ night.
RUM SOAKED GUMMIES
You don’t have to limit your alcohol gummies to just bears, though. You can have rum-soaked gummy worms or dinosaurs or whatever. Any gummy candy will work!
My favorite are the Haribo gummy bears — they always remind me of studying abroad in Europe.
I’ve even seen seasonal shapes and colors, such as Christmas tree gummies or red, white and blue gummies, that would be perfect for holiday parties!
Soak the gummies of your choice in rum for anywhere from 12 to 24 hours — they will only grow in size and soften a bit more the longer you soak them. I prefer mine on the 12 hour side, so that they’re still a bit chewy.
You can toss all of your gummies into one big bowl together.
Or, if you’re a weirdo like me who likes to eat colored candies in a certain order, you can separate them out before soaking them. (Tell me I’m not the only one?)
RUM SOAKED GUMMY BEARS
One of my friends recently got married. Since rum is her favorite, I made a big batch of Rum Gummy Bears for her bachelorette party.
A flavored rum would be really good too! I’m dying to try them with my Homemade Spiced Rum.
If rum isn’t your favorite liquor, you could try making vodka gummy bears instead. You can really use any liquor you like to make drunken gummy bears — consider whiskey or tequila if they are more your style!
The gummies get bloated and puffy when they soak up the alcohol — all the better for a boozy treat. They can get sticky, so serve them with a spoon or toothpicks!
(Although I find spoons to be a bit safer than toothpicks when alcohol is involved…)
You could even try different flavors of rum in your Rum Gummy Bears! A few ideas:
- Raspberry rum on the red bears
- Pineapple rum or coconut rum on the white bears
- Citrus rum on the green bears
- Spiced rum on the orange bears
I even soaked those cola bottle gummies in rum once for mini rum & cokes! So good!
For another cocktail twist, try black cherry rum on lime gummies for mini Cherry Limeade Rum Slushies.
The point of a treat like this is it’s supposed to be fun! So experiment and see what you like.
If you want to branch out from rum, try making alcohol gummies with champagne or with rosé wine.
Get creative with gummy shapes, colors and alcohol flavors to match a specific event, or just make them for a poolside snack.
Either way, you really can’t go wrong.
Happy weekend! // susannah
