About this Peach Margarita recipe

Peach season is here and I am so excited. It’s the best time of the year! Peach cobbler and peach cocktails, I am coming for you.

If you’re with me, you too can pack the punch of a juicy peach into this sweet peach margarita cocktail. Made with peach nectar and peach schnapps, there’s no lack of delicious flavor in this lovely little cocktail.

I love to pair it with tacos, but especially when they are topped with fresh peach salsa. It’s like a peach palooza and I just can’t get enough of it! I may even wrap up my fiesta with some baked peaches too.

Margaritas are so much fun to get creative with. My Texas margarita and pineapple margarita are two of my favorite creative recipes, and this peach margarita is a winner too.

  • Make a peach margarita with just five ingredients. You can totally skip the garnishes, so really, you only need just five ingredients to mix up the cocktail!
  • There’s load of incredible flavor in this simple beverage. Oftentimes, it’s the simple recipes that have the most flavor.
Two margarita glasses filled with an orange-colored beverage, garnished with lime wedges on the rim, and surrounded by ice. The glasses have a salted rim and are set on a light surface.

Tools & glassware

To make this cocktail you only need a few simple tools. Make sure you have a cocktail shaker and a jigger to make the drink.

Then you’ll also need a small plate or a bar glass rimmer, as well as a citrus juicer and a sharp knife. If you are making your own peach puree, then make sure you have a blender and a fine mesh strainer as well.

Ingredients

These simple ingredients are all that you need to make a peach margarita:

  • tequila
  • peach schnapps
  • peach nectar, or peach purée
  • lime juice
  • simple syrup, or agave nectar

Garnishes

Margarita sugar and margarita salt would both be tasty garnishes on the rim of the margarita glasses. Strawberry sugar would be delicious too!

Lime wedges are a great garnish, but if you want something a little extra fancy then use dehydrated lime slices or dehydrated lemon slices.

Fresh peach slices are a great simple garnish to add to your peach margaritas!

Best tequila for Peach Margaritas

A high quality blanco tequila is what I typically choose to make margaritas. It’s clear in color so it helps these peachy margaritas look the peachiest! A reposado tequila, which is aged, would taste good in this cocktail too!

The brand doesn’t matter too much, just something that is high quality and reliable. I use Lunazul or El Jimador for a mid-shelf option. Patron and Casamigos are good top-shelf bottles. Check out tequila 101 for more tips on choosing a good tequila.

Substitutions & variations

No peach nectar? You can typically find peach nectar in the international aisle of the grocery store. If you can’t find some, then make your own fresh peach puree by blending peaches and then straining through a fine mesh strainer.

More peach flavor: Use peach simple syrup if you want even more peach flavor, or if you don’t have peach juice. Then make up the difference with lime juice instead. (You can make peach syrup with frozen peaches or fresh.)

Frozen peach margarita: Make this a frozen margarita by blending the ingredients with ice or using frozen peaches.

Non-alcoholic peach margarita: Substitute 2 ounces zero-proof spirit like Seedlip Grove 42 or Ritual tequila alternative for the tequila and peach schnapps.

Tips & tricks

Make this yummy cocktail perfect with these simple tips:

  • Don’t serve this too early, especially since it’s served over ice. You don’t want the ice to melt and water down the drink!
  • If you make your own puree, it is really important to strain it well so that your drink will be smooth and won’t have any chunks.
  • Always use fresh lime juice. This will provide a much more fresh flavor and ensure a delicious tasty drink.

Food pairings

If you’re ready for the perfect taco Tuesday, then make sure you have all of your taco night essentials, some skillet queso and then whip up these yummy peach margaritas. It’ll be a fiesta before you know it!

Pair this delicious margarita with tacos, nachos and any other fiesta favorites. It goes great with chips and guacamole too. Fish tacos would pair beautifully with this fruit beverage too.
