About this Peach Lemonade recipe

Forget the holidays. Peach season is the best time of the year. I look forward to those succulent, fresh and fuzzy balls of summer sweetness all year long.

Whether it’s homemade peach popsicles, fresh peach salsa or simply biting into a juicy one from the farmers market, peaches are versatile and work in so many different kinds of recipes.

If you’re not trying peach drinks, you are missing out. Peach lemonade is my new favorite way to enjoy peaches. This lemonade might just be my favorite one I’ve ever made.

With peach simple syrup and freshly-squeezed lemon juice, it’s bright, zesty and oh-so-summery. You’re going to love it! (My advice: Don’t skip the fresh-juiced lemons.)

Why you’ll love this recipe

You’ll love this peach lemonade for a few big reasons:

  • This peach lemonade is made with the freshest ingredients so you can feel good about what you’re drinking! No artificial anything here.
  • You can adjust the sweetness level and peach flavor to your liking.
  • It’s pretty, pink and perfect for sharing.

Tools & equipment

Lemonade needs fresh lemons! You’re going to need a juicer. I prefer an electric juicer because it’s easier on my hands than a hand press, but use whatever you have!

You’ll also need a knife and cutting board to dice the peaches for the syrup. A saucepan and wooden spoon or spatula are how we cook the peaches, water and sugar together. And a fine-mesh strainer is key for getting out any pulp so you have a smooth drink.

For serving, you’ll also want a pitcher and some glasses.

Ingredients

Here’s what you will need to make your own peach lemonade:

Peach Syrup

  • water: Use the best water you like to drink. I use filtered water.
  • fresh or frozen peaches: If fresh peaches are in season, they’ll have the best flavor!
  • sugar: I recommend granulated sugar for this recipe, as it helps to highlight the pretty peach color.

Peach Lemonade

  • fresh lemons: I highly, highly recommend you use fresh lemons. You can use the concentrate, but the flavor isn’t as great, as the store-bought stuff tends to be a lot stronger and more sour-tasting. I tried it for you, and fresh is definitely better.

Next, juice your lemons. You will need quite a bit of lemon juice for this so if you have an electric juicer like mine, it will save your hands a little bit but you can also use a hand juicer or citrus squeezer if you need to.

Tips & tricks

  • Use the juice from fresh lemons. When making lemonade, it makes such a big difference in flavor, as opposed to using bottled concentrate.
  • When juicing, be sure to use room-temperature citrus. Refrigerated lemons will not juice as well as ones that have been warmed up. You can microwave them briefly for about 10 seconds to get a to warm them up or just leave them out for an hour or two before you plan to juice them.
  • Sweeten it to taste with the syrup. Add a little bit of sugar (or syrup, if you have any leftover) if more sweetness is desired.
  • Use fresh peaches in summertime, if possible! They have the juiciest flavor.

Food pairings

Enjoy peach lemonade with all your summer faves, like lemon bars and baked peaches!

Cocktail recipes

Vodka Peach Lemonade: Add a splash of vodka to a glass of peach lemonade to make a cocktail.

Peach Lemonade Mimosa: Use this lemonade as a base for a mimosa. It would be a great addition to a mimosa bar, too.

Sugar-free Peach Lemonade: Use your favorite sugar substitutes such as stevia or coconut sugar to sweeten the peach simple syrup. Keep in mind that coconut sugar has a deeper color which can make the peach syrup more brown and less peachy in color.

FAQ

What can you mix with peach lemonade?

Peach lemonade is delicious with lots of spirits. Try adding champagne to it to make bellinis. You can also add vodka, rum, gin, tequila or bourbon to make cocktails.

How do you make peach lemonade?

You can make peach lemonade at home by creating a peach simple syrup with sugar, water and real peaches: Fresh or frozen both work. Then combine the syrup with water and fresh lemon juice to make lemonade.

Can I use bottled lemon juice?

It is not recommended. Fresh juice has a more delicate flavor that better highlights the sweet flavor of the peaches. Bottled juice tends to be more cloyingly sour.

notes

Lemon juice: Use the juice from fresh lemons. Bottled concentrate can work, but it is stronger tasting and more sour than fresh juice, and it can overpower the softness of the peaches. Juicing the lemons is seriously worth the effort.
Peaches: You can use fresh or frozen peaches. In the summer, try to use fresh for a stronger peach flavor!
