Ingredients

Mango lemonade is best when you make your own homemade honey mango syrup. There aren’t a whole lot of ingredients, but here is a list so that you can make sure you have everything on hand:

Honey mango syrup

  • Diced mango: Can be frozen or fresh!
  • Honey: Local is great, but whatever you choose make sure it’s pure honey.
  • Water: Whatever is in your tap or what you like to cook with is great!

If you don’t want to use honey, you can use agave nectar or even white sugar. I find maple syrup too strong, but you could use that too. Just make sure you stir until the sugar has dissolved. It’s easiest to do this while the mixture is warm.

Mango lemonade

  • Lemon juice: I highly suggest you use fresh lemon juice. It drastically changes the flavor and makes it taste so much better. Grab some extra lemons for garnishes, too!
  • Honey mango syrup: I’ll show you how to make this, but if you prefer to buy mango syrup instead, go for it.
  • Water: You’ll need more water for the lemonade. This time make sure it’s water you like to drink, whether it’s your tap water or filtered water.

Garnishes

Add a special touch to each glass of lemonade with a piece of fresh lemon, a dehydrated lemon slice or even a candied lemon slice!

Berry ice cubes and herb ice cubes would be a fun and fancy way to keep your glass of lemonade ice cold.

If you need a super quick garnish, then slice up a lemon or pull a few fresh mint leaves to add to each glass.

Substitutions & variations

I highly recommend using fresh mango — it always gives the best flavor. However, frozen diced mango will work as well.

Need to save some time? Feel free to use premade mango simple syrup instead of making your own. The end result won’t be near as tasty, but it will still be quite good!

You can change up the flavor of this beverage by using different simple syrups along with the mango. Strawberry simple syrup and peach simple syrup both pair beautifully with the mango. You can also simply add fresh berries into your pitcher of lemonade for a simple twist on the flavor.

Make this a boozy cocktail by adding a shot of rum, vodka or tequila to each glass of lemonade. Limoncello lemonade is so good too!

Instructions

Follow these simple steps to make the most delicious mango lemonade to get through those hot summer days:

Chunks of yellow and orange fruit simmer in a pot of liquid with a blue spatula submerged in the mixture.

In a medium saucepan, cook the mango chunks and water over medium-high heat until it reaches a boil.

Reduce the heat to low then cook for 15 more minutes, stirring occasionally. Once the mango is pulpy, remove from heat.

Pour the cooked mango and water through a fine-mesh strainer, then discard the mango pulp that is caught.

While the liquid is still hot, gently stir in the honey until the sugar dissolves, then set aside and let the mango simple syrup cool. You can stash it in the refrigerator for later if you want.

ingredients

Honey Mango Syrup

  • 2 cups diced mango fresh or frozen
  • 2 cups water
  • cup honey

Mango Lemonade

  • 2 cups fresh lemon juice from about 8-10 lemons
  • 1½ to 2 cups honey mango syrup to taste
  • 4 cups water

instructions

  • First, make the honey mango syrup. In a medium saucepan, cook mango and water over medium heat until it reaches a boil. Change the heat to low, and cook for 15 minutes more, stirring occasionally, until mango is pulpy. Remove from heat.
  • Strain liquid through a fine-mesh strainer. Discard the solids. While still warm, stir in the honey until dissolved. Let cool.
  • To make the lemonade, combine fresh lemon juice and 1 ½ cups of honey mango syrup in a pitcher. Stir in the water. Add more syrup, if you prefer a sweeter flavor. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

notes

Sweeten to taste. Start with half of the mango syrup. Give your lemonade a taste test. Feel free to adjust the sweetness as needed. If you run out of syrup, add a bit more honey or plain sugar and stir until dissolved.
Fresh lemon juice: Fresh citrus is always the best bet when making homemade lemonade. Trust me, it is very worth the effort to juice them — the bottled concentrate just doesn’t taste as nice! I’ve tried it so you don’t have to. You will need about 8-10 lemons in order to have enough juice for this recipe.
Extra syrup? Store the honey mango syrup in a food-safe, airtight container for up to 2 weeks. You can make it ahead of time and put together the lemonade another day for the freshest flavor.
Other sweetener options: Instead of using honey, you can use agave nectar or even white sugar. Just make sure you stir until the sugar has dissolved.
