Virgin Strawberry Daiquiri recipe
I fell in love with daiquiris before I ever had my first sip of alcohol. The occasion was my good friend’s bat mitzvah, at which we enjoyed virgin strawberry daiquiris from a big, swirling slushy machine while we danced to boy band music. I’ll never forget those daiquiris and their sweet berry-lime flavor!
Daiquiris are usually made with rum, but virgin daiquiris are a great non-alcoholic cocktail that’s perfect for parties and more.
This recipe is based on my Frozen Strawberry Daiquiri recipe, so check that out if you’re looking for a boozy version. Below, I’ll walk you through how to make this recipe into a delicious mocktail. Bonus: You don’t even need a slushy machine!

Why you’ll love this recipe
The Virgin Strawberry Daiquiri might just be your new favorite mocktail.
- These berry red mocktails are so sweet and easy to slurp.
- You can throw them together with just a few ingredients in your blender at home. No slushy machine required!
- They’re an excellent drink option for non-drinkers, from kiddos to designated drivers.
It’s also perfect for Mardi Gras, as the daiquiri is a staple of New Orleans drinking culture. And since they are frozen, they make excellent summer drinks for sipping by the pool.
Serve them at kids’ parties, baby showers, game day watch parties, bachelorette parties and any time you get a hankering for a virgin strawberry daiquiri.
What is a daiquiri?
The daiquiri is a classic cocktail made with rum, lime juice and a sweetener. To be honest, the traditional daiquiri isn’t what you’ll see sloshing around in a slushy machine.
Made with rum, lime juice and simple syrup, classic daiquiris are stronger and usually served neat (AKA without ice), typically in a coupe glass.
The classic daiquiri is a very different drink than their frozen cousin with the same name. And while I love a classic one (especially the grown-up, grapefruit-y Hemingway Daiquiri), today I’m here with one of our frozen friends.
Frozen daiquiris might not be traditional, but they are fun and so refreshing on a hot summer day!
Tools & glassware
You’ll need a few kitchen tools to make this classic frozen cocktail. It is beneficial to have a powerful blender so that you can easily blend the ice! You will also need a jigger to measure the rum and a measuring spoon to measure the lime juice.
If you are making freshly squeezed lime juice, make sure you have a citrus juicer. You’ll get the best results by squeezing your own citrus juice. Make sure you’ve got some daiquiri glasses to serve these strawberry daiquiris cocktails too!
A strawberry huller is also a must if you are using fresh berries. It helps you remove the stems from the berries quickly and effortlessly. I love mine!

Ingredients
If you’re ready to liven up your next party with virgin daiquiris, you’ll need to pick up a few ingredients at the grocery store. Here’s what to add to your list to make my favorite frozen virgin strawberry daiquiri recipe:
- whole strawberries, fresh or frozen
- margarita mix (fresh-squeezed lime juice mixed with simple syrup or sugar and water)
- ice cubes
- water
I like to make a big batch of margarita mix (lime juice and simple syrup) or sour mix (lime juice, lemon juice and simple syrup) to mix into this drink. I’ll put instructions for you below.
If you don’t have simple syrup, you can add sugar and water to the blender instead. Just add ¼ cup sugar and ¼ cup water and blend together until the sugar has dissolved. Then add the other ingredients.
Garnishes
To finish off these mocktails, a few garnishes will make them feel even fancier. Here are a few ideas:
- strawberries: whole, sliced, partially sliced with the stem on
- limes: slices or wedges
- fresh herbs: fresh mint sprigs or basil leaves
- straws: crazy straws or paper straws
- other stuff: cocktail umbrellas, cocktail picks
Variations and substitutions
You can easily mix this recipe up with other flavors and types of fruit!
Fresh or frozen berries: You can use fresh strawberries or frozen strawberries. If it is strawberry season, then I highly recommend using fresh! The fruity sweetness of a strawberry that is ripe will totally make this drink extra delicious. When I have a surplus, I usually hull them with a strawberry huller and put them in a ziptop bag in the freezer.
Other berries and fruits: You can try this recipe with other fruits. Frozen pineapple and mango give these a tropical vibe, while blueberries and blackberries would bring a brilliant berry flavor. Try them with lemon, raspberries or peaches, or you can keep it traditional with lime. Mix and match to make your own flavor combos!
Sweeten it up: If you’d like a bit more sweetness in your frozen strawberry daiquiri, you can use a bit of simple syrup. Add more depth of flavor with something like basil simple syrup or mint simple syrup.
Make it a cocktail: Use white rum to make this a daiquiri cocktail. Check out my recipe for frozen strawberry daiquiris as well as this strawberry daiquiri served neat.
How to make Virgin Strawberry Daiquiris
This homemade virgin strawberry daiquiri is a wonderful way to use up your farmers market strawberries. Here’s how to make it:
- Place the fresh or frozen berries into your blender. Then add the simple syrup, fresh lime juice and ice cubes.
- Start the blender and blend until the ingredients are well combined and have a consistent slushy texture. If the blender gets stuck, add a little water.
- Grab the glasses that you want to use and pour the frozen strawberry daiquiri into the cups.
- Garnish with a lime wedge (or lime wheel) or a fresh strawberry slice and enjoy!
Tips & tricks
Check out these few tips to make the best frozen strawberry daiquiri:
- Use fresh lime juice instead of store-bought bottled stuff. The fresh lime juice is like a breath of fresh air! However, if you are making a LOT of these, the store-bought stuff is a great shortcut.
- You can make these fruity slushies more icy if you want. Add extra ice and blend away until it is the perfect slushy consistency. Just taste-test your frozen strawberry daiquiri before serving because it may need more strawberries or lime juice to balance out the flavor.
- Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less simple syrup. Strawberries have a natural sweetness; sometimes, they can be really sweet, so you may not need extra sugar. However, you will likely need some liquid to blend with, or your blender may get stuck, so add a splash of water instead.
What to serve with Strawberry Daiquiris
They’d be great with anything strawberry, like chocolate-covered strawberries or strawberry jello pretzel dessert.
Daiquiris are also a must for Mardi Gras, so enjoy them for a party with all your favorite New Orleans appetizers like popcorn shrimp and hot boudin dip.
Follow them up with a show-stopping dinner of spicy cajun chicken alfredo pasta and a virgin espresso martini after the meal.
