Your cheat sheet to Valentine’s Day drinks
Roses are red, violets are blue, celebrate love with a cocktail or two! Okay, that was cheesy. But the sentiment is not.
Valentine’s Day has never been one of my favorite holidays. I always thought it was over-commercialized and never saw the point of a $8 card (seriously, $8 for a card?!) or chocolate filled with something crunchy and questionable. Saint Valentine would never!
But I’ve since re-framed the day as an opportunity to celebrate the love and devotion that abounds in my life. From my husband to my family to my friends to my followers, I’m so fortunate to be surrounded by a community that fills my cup!
What better way to celebrate than suggesting things to fill your cup? Whether you’re getting together with your girls for Galentine’s Day or having a romantic dinner at home with your significant other, I’m convinced that no celebration is complete without a cocktail crafted with love. After all, the best gift is one you can enjoy together!

Tips for picking a Valentine’s Day cocktail
Whether you’re making cocktails for your sweetheart or your sweetest gal pal, here are a few tips for choosing a delicious drink they’ll love.
- Pick their favorite spirit. This is an easy one, but find out what your companion’s preferences are: gin, vodka, tequila, wine, champagne, bourbon — there are so many options to make a
drink they’ll love. When in doubt, go for something vodka-based as it’s more of a clean slate that can handle other flavors. - Make it colorful. Red or pink are surefire colors for drinks that are perfectly festive for Valentine’s Day. Berries are a great way to naturally color your drinks, or you could go for a rosy spirit like Chambord or even rosé wine.
- Pick the right glassware. Nothing says fancy like getting out the pretty martini glasses you never use.
- Dress it up. Add some red or pink embellishments to up-level your
drink . Rose petals, paper straws, fresh berries, even a cute heart-shaped drink stirrer are all great ways to garnish your drinks.

What to serve for Valentine’s Day
While drinks are dandy, sometimes you may need a little sustenance while you sip on February 14th.
For a group get-together, I always opt for easy appetizers. You really can’t go wrong with a cheese and charcuterie board, especially when you add special touches like homemade pita chips and a dip like whipped feta. Caprese skewers are an easy to eat option while mingling.
Champagne cupcakes are perfect for a special occasion, with a light champagne flavor that is simply delightful. Chocolate pudding shots are a fun and boozy treat that will be the talk of the party.
If you’re opting for a date night filled with romance, you may want more of a meal. This easy pasta dish is a winner in my book — pair it with these pizza breadsticks for some extra yum. I also enjoy this apple pecan salad for something a bit lighter.
Don’t forget dessert! Candy is dandy, but play Cupid and craft some sweetness yourself. Chocolate covered strawberries are a Valentine’s Day icon — when you make them yourself, you can dress them up with plenty of toppings to show your affection.
