Your ultimate guide to bridal shower drinks

When it comes to bridal showers, there are a few things to consider. First and foremost, you’ll want to take into account the preferences of the bride — it’s her party, after all! Or maybe it’s a couples shower, in which case you’ll want to think about what both partners enjoy.

Think about their favorite drinks, whether she wants an upscale affair or something more laid back, plus how many people she’ll want to join the fun and what kind of drinkers they are.

You’ll also want to think about what season you’ll be celebrating in, as that can help guide your drink menu. If there’s a theme, that can help you narrow things down as well! When in doubt, provide several options (don’t forget a non-alcoholic choice for anyone who prefers not to imbibe).

If your couple prefers an engagement party rather than a shower, these drinks would work for that as well! An engagement party normally occurs just after the, well, engagement and well before the wedding, and often is a chance to celebrate the good news. It can be as elegant or as laid back as the guests of honor prefer. But for a bachelor or bachelorette party, opt for something a little less formal to truly get the party started.

Quick tips for hosting

When it comes to making drinks for a group, you want to ensure you have time to mingle. I have a few favorite ways to stay out from behind the bar:

  1. Batch cocktails are an easy way to make sure there’s plenty of drinks to enjoy without having someone stuck playing bartender. Before the shower starts, make any simple syrup your recipe needs, squeeze any fresh juices and mix all ingredients beforehand, then chill until party time. Don’t forget to wait on the bubbles — only add anything like champagne, club soda, ginger beer, etc. right before things kick off to ensure the drinks stay bubbly for a few hours.
  2. A bar-style setup like a margarita bar gives guests the chance to DIY their drinks, ensuring everyone enjoys their sip. If you have a specific drink in mind, you can provide instructions and ingredients, or provide a variety of mixers and booze and leave everyone to their own devices.
  3. Multiply a recipe if the bride has a favorite so everyone can partake. Much like a wedding signature cocktail, this drink will take center stage at the party (so you’ll only have to focus on making one or two cocktails). Simply multiply the ingredients by whatever amount you need, then convert to cups for easy measuring. Food to serve at a bridal shower

Before you set the menu, you’ll want to consider the timing of the shower:

  • Celebrating over brunch? You can’t go wrong with mimosas and bakery-style lemon loaf.
  • Toasting in the afternoon? Pair your cocktails with charcuterie cups instead of a charcuterie board so you can mix and mingle.
  • Having an elegant evening affair? Puff pastry pinwheels impress, but are so simple.

For any party, I prefer snacks that are easy to eat without utensils or a place to sit. One of my new favorite hacks of a party staple is spinach artichoke wonton cups. They take the classic dip and transform it into bite-sized cups that are so tasty! Add a sweet touch with bite-sized desserts like bright and balanced lemon tarts.

If you want to level up your drink presentations, flower ice cubes are romantic and impressive. Dehydrated citrus rounds are another easy option, but give your drinks (and desserts) an antique feel that’s more elegant. Rock candy serves as both a garnish and a treat, which makes it a fun addition to bridal showers. If you can’t decide, a garnish board ensures everyone has something they’ll enjoy!
