Your ultimate guide to mimosas

A brunch without bubbly is just a very late breakfast — and that’s not something I’m willing to accept! Whether I’m hosting a bridal shower, a holiday gathering or a lazy Sunday with my favorite people, a mimosa bar is always my go-to move. It looks gorgeous on the counter, it’s endlessly fun for guests and it means I can actually enjoy the party instead of playing bartender all morning.

The classic orange juice and champagne combo will always have my heart, but switching up the juice mixer is honestly the easiest way to make your spread feel fresh and festive. From sparkling pink strawberry sips to cozy spiced apple cider variations, there’s a mimosa for every season and every celebration. I’ve rounded up my favorite recipes — all bright, bubbly, and guaranteed to bring a pop of color to your next toast. Grab your flutes, chill that champagne, and let’s get pouring!

Quick tips for hosting

When drinks only have a few ingredients, the quality matters. Mimosas require a juice and champagne (not to be confused with a bellini, which is puree and prosecco). Fresh squeezed juice will give you more flavor, but store-bought works well too — especially when you’re serving a crowd. What’s in season will also dictate which option makes sense.

For your bubbly, there are plenty of options out there. If you have a favorite bottle, stick with what you know! Since orange juice is sweet, a sparkling wine that’s dry (or extra dry) will work better than a sweeter sparkling wine. Look for “brut,” meaning dry, on the label.

build a mimosa bar

At your next get-together, set up a mimosa bar for guests to DIY their drinks. Provide a few different types of juices and a few bottles of bubbly and let guests have fun. Take it up a notch with a few garnishes like fresh berries and citrus slices.

If you’re hosting a party, a mimosa bar is a great option. Everyone can craft their perfect drink and nobody gets stuck mixing drinks. Be sure to add a bottle of sparkling cider, sparkling lemonade or seltzer to provide a non-alcoholic option for anyone that prefers it. No matter what you’re serving, make sure that things are chilled and ready to enjoy!

What to serve with mimosas

Since mimosas are a frequent brunch bevvy, they’re right at home alongside sweet bites like muffins and coffee cake or something substantial and savory like quiche.

If you want to sip a mimosa outside of breakfast hours, there’s nothing that says you can’t! With bright fruit notes and bubbles from the champagne, they would work well with something salty that cuts through the sweetness, like charcuterie cups.

A garnish board would be a fun addition to your drinks, especially for something like a baby shower or bridal shower. It would work for either a small batch of drinks or a mimosa bar, plus it doubles as a decorative touch!
