Your guide to April drinks

Come April, spring is in full swing! Flowers are blooming, birds are chirping and the weather is (mostly) warmer, which leaves me feeling invigorated after the winter months.

When I come out of hibernation, gone are the winter warmers and cozy flavors. I prefer to enjoy bright beverages that bring color to the table and batch drinks made for sharing. After all, spring is the perfect time for patio brunches, at-home happy hours and holiday celebrations to catch up with friends and family.

From brunch drinks to sips fit for Easter celebrations, I’m sharing seasonal favorites and a few food pairings to round out your menus in this guide.

April flavors

April is a perfect time to experiment with floral flavors as things start to bloom. Lavender, rose and elderflower are stunning additions to your favorite recipes and can shine brightly in their own custom cocktail.

Honey is another flavor that reminds me of spring. After all, those buzzing bees aren’t just for show! Honey syrup, or runny honey, is a must since it mixes smoothly into cold beverages that are perfect on warm spring days.

Although they’re around all year, berries compliment spring menus and celebrations so well. You can use whole berries or a simple syrup to capture their sweet flavor (and color, too). It’s also a great way to capture more delicate flavors in a way that lets them add their notes to drinks without getting lost. Strawberry and cucumber syrup are perfect options for spring!

What’s happening this month

April seems to be the calm before the storm that is summer fun. With just a few things on the calendar, you can use this as a chance to catch your breath or add in your own occasions if you want more chances to enjoy company.
