Tools & glassware
For making the cocktail, you will need a jigger to measure the ingredients, a cocktail shaker and a strainer. I prefer a hawthorn strainer.
And then for the garnishes, you’ll likely want some bamboo skewers or cocktail picks to perch a toasted marshmallow right on top. A kitchen torch is handy for toasting said marshmallows (and so fun for smoked cocktails, too).
To serve a s’mores martini, you’ll want a martini glass or coupe glass.

Ingredients
The s’mores martini captures the essence of the beloved campfire treat in a unique and sophisticated way. Here are the cocktail ingredients you will need:
Marshmallow vodka
Marshmallow vodka is readily available at just about any liquor store. Smirnoff and Pinnacle both make a version of vodka with marshmallow flavor.
But did you know you can make homemade marshmallow vodka with real marshmallows and plain vodka?
You can also use vanilla vodka or whipped cream vodka for a similar flavor.
Chocolate liqueur
Crème de cacao is a sweet, chocolate-flavored liqueur. It comes in a clear version and a dark brown color. Either will work, but the dark version will help give this cocktail its chocolate-brown color.
Chocolate liqueur is another option with a smooth, rich flavor. Crème de cacao tends to be a little more inexpensive than something like Godiva chocolate liqueur.
You could use coffee liqueur in a pinch. It will still have a great texture and richness but with only a hint of chocolate.
Graham cracker-infused milk
Totally optional, but infusing milk with real graham crackers takes this cocktail to the next level and then some. This is what helps it taste like liquid s’mores.
You can use milk or half-and-half. Heavy cream also works, but it can begin to thicken up when shaken (think whipped cream) so it can be
To make it, you’ll infuse a few graham crackers with milk or half-and-half and let it sit overnight in the fridge.
It takes some planning, but it makes a big batch so you can mix up a few cocktails with it, like a s’mores spin on the classic white Russian.
Garnishes
What makes this cocktail so much fun? The garnishes! They are a fantastic addition to make tasty drinks look (and sometimes smell) fancy.
Here are a few ideas to dress up this great dessert cocktail:
- chocolate syrup drizzled on the inside of the glass
- a rim of crushed graham crackers (using marshmallow fluff or chocolate syrup for them to stick)
- cocktail pick with a toasted marshmallow or a bourbon marshmallow
- grated chocolate on top
- whipped cream
- homemade graham crackers

You can use vanilla vodka instead of marshmallow vodka. You could also use marshmallow whiskey or something similar. (I like the ‘Shmallow Toasted Marshmallow Bourbon from Hotel Tango Distillery.)
Instead of chocolate liqueur, you can use some chocolate syrup and regular vodka instead. Kahlua will also work.
Feel free to make it non-dairy with oat milk or almond milk.
How to make a S’mores Martini
Putting together your own toasted s’mores martini at home is pretty simple. Here’s what you’ll do:
- First, make the graham cracker milk. Place graham crackers in a small mixing bowl with a lid. Cover with milk or half-and-half. (This will make more than you need, in case you want more cocktails!) Let it sit in the fridge for 4-8 hours. Strain out the graham crackers and pour it into a jar for use in cocktails. (Alternatively, you can let them steep in disposable tea bags.)
- In a zip-locking bag, place two graham crackers and seal the bag. Cover with a paper towel or tea towel and beat the bag with the back of a spoon until the graham crackers are crushed into crumbs. This can be as fine or crumbly as you wish, but coarse crumbs will work best. Pour crumbs onto a plate.
- Pour a thin layer of chocolate syrup onto another plate. Roll the outer rim of a martini glass in the chocolate syrup, letting any excess drip off.
- Then dip the rim of the glass in in graham cracker crumbs. If desired, drizzle more chocolate syrup on the inside of the glass in a circular manner. Place the prepared glass in the freezer while you prepare your other ingredients to keep the chocolate from dripping.
- To a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add marshmallow vodka, chocolate liqueur and graham cracker milk. Shake until combined, then strain into the prepared martini glass.
- Pierce the end of a skewer through a marshmallow and hold it over an open flame (from a real campfire or a kitchen blowtorch/lighter), until charred to your liking. Place on top of the rimmed martini glass for extra s’mores fragrance.
What to serve with a S’mores Martini
The combination of chocolate vodka, marshmallow-flavored vodka, chocolate liqueur, and cream creates a rich and creamy base that mimics the flavors of melted chocolate and toasted marshmallows. With every sip, you’ll experience the lusciousness of chocolate and the sweetness of marshmallows, all balanced perfectly in a cocktail glass.
So what to pair with this delicious dessert martini? Why, s’mores, of course! (Is it raining and you don’t have a kitchen torch? You can make indoor s’mores!)
Or go for a s’mores-flavored treat, like s’mores cookies or s’mores rice krispie treats.
Add a fresh raspberry to your cocktail pick and serve it up with these raspberry s’mores bars.
They’d also go so well with anything chocolate, like double chocolate chip cookies.
