Peppermint Martinis Recipe
Holiday parties are here and I’m so excited! A good Christmas party is always lively and merry — and always has fun cocktails. It truly is such a fun way to spread Christmas cheer.
I don’t think dairy-based cocktails don’t get enough love. White Russians are a go-to during this time of year, and I love drinks like the Nutty Irishman and the Brandy Alexander too.
So, those really inspired me to make this extremely festive and wonderfully delicious white chocolate peppermint martini. It’s a creamy after-dinner drink with the perfect peppermint twist.
White chocolate liquer and peppermint vodka are just a wonderful combination. Mix in some cold heavy cream and other tasty ingredients, and you’ve got a minty drink that will be the star of the holiday season. As you head into the holiday season, consider this creamy peppermint martini!

Why you’ll love this recipe
What’s not to love about white chocolate candy cane martinis? They’re such a fun drink and make holiday parties a blast:
- You can make two of these festive drinks in just 10 minutes. That means you can quickly get back to your guests instead of standing at the cocktail bar all evening!
- This drink has a beautiful and elegant presentation with crushed peppermint around the rim of the glass. If you need a classy cocktail, this is it.
- Chocolate and peppermint is a comforting pairing. So this cocktail is as cozy as it is fun! It’s my favorite way to spend time with guests after a delicious meal.
Tools & glassware
To make this cocktail, you only need a few basic supplies. To crush the peppermints, you’ll need a plastic bag, clean dish towel and a meat mallet or rolling pin. You can also use your food processor to make crushed peppermint!
You’ll need to have two small plates to rim the glasses as well. Make sure that you’ve got a cocktail shaker to mix the drinks and a jigger to measure out the ingredients. And, of course, you’ll need your favorite martini glasses!
Ingredients
Ready to make the best peppermint martini ever? Here is what you will need to have on hand:
- candy canes
- honey, maple syrup or simple syrup
- white chocolate liqueur
- peppermint vodka
- vanilla vodka
- heavy cream or half-and-half
Substitutions and Variations
If you can’t find peppermint vodka, then you can use peppermint schnapps or uncolored crème de menthe. I love to use my homemade peppermint vodka, but store-bought works great too.
Not a peppermint fan? You can nix the mint features of this cocktail and enjoy a white chocolate martini. It’s still 100% delicious — trust me. I drank that when I ran out of peppermint vodka! And you can still garnish it with a candy cane and a peppermint rim, though the candy cane flavor and pink coloring will dissolve into the drink the longer you let it sit.
Need a dairy-free option? Then check the ingredients on the creamy liqueurs and opt for a non-dairy milk instead like almond milk or soy milk.
How to Make a White Chocolate Peppermint Martini
I’m always coming up with creative ways to embrace the spirit of the season! This minty peppermint white chocolate martini is so fun. Follow these step by step instructions to learn how to make it:
Place candy canes or peppermint candies into a plastic zip top bag. Cover it with a cloth and use a meat mallet, rolling pin or other heavy object to crush the candies into small chunks. Then pour them out onto a plate.
Pour maple syrup or honey on another plate. Roll the outer edge of the martini glasses in the maple syrup and let the excess drip. Then roll the edge of the glass in crushed candy cane.
Once the rim of your glass is done, you can start on the cocktail.
Combine white chocolate liqueur, peppermint vodka, vanilla vodka and half and half in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well until combined.
Strain the cocktail into the prepared martini glass and garnish with a candy cane. Serve immediately!
Tips & tricks
Here’s a few tips to make this holiday cocktail absolutely perfect:
- White chocolate peppermint martinis are best fresh, so make them one by one and serve immediately as they are ready.
- Feel free to change up the rim of your martini glass. Sprinkles are always fun (see this sugar cookie martini), mini white chocolate chips would add extra sweetness and you could even use melted white chocolate on the rim too.
- Make sure you let the excess maple syrup drip while you hold the martini glass upside down. Otherwise, you could have syrup dripping down the sides of the glass.
What to Serve with White Chocolate Peppermint Martinis
This is a great after dinner cocktail because it’s so sweet. We love to pair it with holiday cookies like white chocolate cranberry oatmeal cookies are and these white chocolate macadamia nut cookies.
A rich dark chocolate brownie or chocolate chip blondie would be a tasty pairing as well. Oh, the endless cookies I could eat with a “peppermintini” in hand! Hot chocolate cookies, madeleines, and snowflake sugar cookies would all pair beautifully with this sweet cocktail.
FAQ
This festive drink is slightly sweet and perfectly minty. The white chocolate liqueur adds a subtle sweetness to the cocktail that is not overpowering, and brings a nice balance to the mint flavors.
While I recommend making each drink fresh, you can store leftovers if you have them. Transfer to an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 3 days. Give the mix a good shake before drinking it.
