Soak up some sun with a Frozen Moscow Mule by your side. Made in the blender with lime, vodka and frozen ginger beer, this slushy is a ray of sunshine.
Moscow mules are without a doubt one of my favorite cocktails.
I’ve long been a fan of ginger anything.
But when combined with lime juice and just about any spirit? Wow, it’s a winner.
Truly one of my favorite parts of mule-mixing is that you can enjoy them with so many spirits.
From the classic vodka Moscow mule to the many variations, there’s one of these drinks for everyone.
And the second-best part is how well it transcends seasons. I love an ice-cold mule in a copper mug in the spring summertime, but I also love them in the fall and winter.
Ginger pairs so well with apple in this apple cider mule but also with pumpkin in this pumpkin spice mule.
But one new combination that I love just as much, if not more? A frozen Moscow mule.
Frozen Moscow mule slushy
If you are looking for a way to beat the heat, this frozen Moscow mule is a real winner.
Made with lime juice, vodka (or the spirit of your choice) and frozen ginger beer, it’s mixed up in the blender to create an almost-slushy.
It’s not unlike sipping on a frozen margarita or frozen daiquiri, only with ginger beer as the star player.
What is a Moscow mule?

Ingredients
You just need three ingredients for a frozen Moscow mule, so that means they need to be high quality!
Ginger beer: I like a spicier ginger beer, which means it has more of a zing of ginger, but you can go sweeter here if you like. Check out my list of the best ginger beers to help you decide on a spice level that’s right for you.
Lime juice: I always recommend fresh lime juice if you have it on hand, but feel free to use a good quality lime concentrate.
Vodka: Use the best vodka you can afford — my go-to advice for anything with
How to make a frozen mule in a blender
Making a good frozen mule requires some planning ahead, but overall it isn’t a complicated
Here are some quick steps, then I’ll show you step-by-step instructions.
- Freeze ginger beer in an ice cube tray.
- Once frozen, add them to a blender with vodka and lime juice.
- Blend until smooth.
- Serve in a copper mug or rocks glass. Cheers!
Take a bottle of ginger beer and empty it into an ice cube tray.
A typical bottle will make enough ice cubes for 2 drinks, so make more as needed. (You’re probably going to want seconds, just sayin’.)
Fill every cavity about the same to ensure they freeze at the same rate. (They don’t have to be perfect, though!)
Let it set up in the freezer for a few hours until they are solid.
Note: The ginger beer ice cubes will be sticky, so make sure to wash your tray afterward before using it for regular ice.
Add the ginger beer ice cubes, lime juice and vodka to a blender.
For drinks, I recommend getting a really good blender like a Vitamix. Blend until smooth! You’re looking for the consistency of a slushy, with no chunks of ice remaining.
Pour into mule mugs or a rocks glass. Garnish with a slice of lime and add a straw.
And that’s how you make a Moscow mule slushy. Time to slurp it up!

Super delish and so easy, love being able to prep the ginger beer ice cubes ahead of time! And thanks for the tip about them being sticky, I thought maybe mine weren’t frozen all the way, but then saw your tip!
