Easter Bark Recipe
As with any holiday, the candy is probably one of the best parts. Halloween is a prime example of this, and Christmas and Valentine’s Day too. Not to mention the fun cocktail and drinks.
The same can be said for Easter! Whether it’s jelly beans stuffed into a glossy, plastic egg or a chocolate bunny with giant ears, a basketful of Easter candy is certainly the jackpot of all jackpots. Oh, and a shot of peeps vodka never hurts.
Don’t get me wrong, I love a tray of deviled eggs like anyone else, but candy reigns supreme. My friend Meghan’s chocolate bourbon caramel tart is one of my favorite Easter treats.
I love making this delicious Easter bark to share. The adorable decoration of those Cadbury mini eggs atop a swirly chocolate bark is the quintessential Easter look. It’s a great use of leftover Easter candy, too!
If you’re looking for a go-to tradition for your Easter baking time, this white chocolate bark aims to please. You can add loads of different toppings to this tasty chocolate base for the most fun creation ever!

Candy bark is so much fun to make! There’s so many reasons you’ll enjoy creating and eating this lovely little treat:
- This is a wonderful treat to gift to family and friends! Just portion out some candy bark into cute little Easter themed cellophane bags, tie it with a ribbon and hand out your tasty creation.
- Easter bark is easily customizable. Add any toppings and fun ingredients that you want. If you have kids who want to help out, then let them choose some fun toppings as a fun way to be involved in the process!
- This is a no-bake recipe! No need to turn on the oven, you can make this treat with microwave safe bowls and a baking sheet.

Tools & equipment
To make Easter bunny bark, you’ll just need a few basic kitchen tools. Use a microwave safe bowl to heat the chocolate and a silicone spatula to stir it and spread it out.
You’ll also need a baking sheet and wax paper or parchment paper to spread the chocolate out. Make sure that you clear some space in your fridge before your start too. That way you can easily set the bark in the fridge to set!

Ingredients
This is by far one of my favorite Easter candies! It’s so easy to make and always turns out looking so cute. Here’s all the ingredients that you need to have on hand to make Easter bark:
- semi sweet chocolate chips or dark chocolate chips
- white chocolate chips
- chocolate candies (like mini chocolate eggs!)
- sprinkles
You could melt down chocolate bunnies, too — or save them for chocolate bunny cocktails!
Substitutions & variations
If you cannot find chocolate chips, you can use melting wafers. Feel free to use different colored wafers too to make an extra colorful bark!
Add any and all toppings that you’d like! Keep reading for more topping ideas below.

Topping ideas
You know, this white chocolate bark doesn’t have to be just for Easter! Once you have added the white chocolate layer on top, you can top it with whatever candies you like. I used the chocolate eggs and tons of sprinkles since I made this for Easter, but the sky is the limit!
You can add extra toppings like pastel mini marshmallows, pastel M&Ms and even things like shredded coconut or sliced almonds. Or make this a salty sweet creation by adding pretzels or some chopped peanuts.
For other holidays, you can add different color M&M candies and other themed treats:
- Around Christmas, add peppermint extract to the white chocolate and top with crushed candy canes for a mint chocolate treat. Everyone loves peppermint bark!
- During Halloween, you can color the white chocolate with orange food coloring for a spooky look and add edible eye candies and colorful sprinkles.
- And around Thanksgiving, those mini candy pumpkins would be the best topping!
Don’t be afraid to be adventurous, there’s so much fun to be had with this recipe.

How to make Easter Bark
Santa gets cookies left for him, maybe the Easter bunny should have Easter bark left out to munch on! This adorable spring time treat is incredibly simple to make. Follow these step-by-step instructions and your candy will be complete in no time:
Line a baking sheet with wax paper or parchment paper and then set it to the side.
Then add the semi-sweet chocolate chips to one microwave safe bowl and the white chocolate chips to another. Melt the milk chocolate in 20-second intervals, stirring well in between.

Once melted, spoon the chocolate onto the previously prepared baking sheet and spread it out into a thin later.
Place the baking sheet into the fridge for 5-6 minutes to temporarily set.
Next, melt the white chocolate in 20-second intervals stirring in between until fully melted. Then remove the baking sheet from the fridge and spoon the white chocolate over the semi-sweet chocolate.

Spread into a thin layer and then use a knife or skewer to drag through the layers and make a swirly pattern.

Quickly add the mini chocolate eggs and sprinkles all over the top of the candy bark. Then place the pan back into the fridge for about 30 minutes.

Once set, remove and peel from the wax paper and break the bark into small pieces. You can use a chef’s knife to help you break up stubborn pieces.
Serve immediately with your favorite Easter cocktail or store in the fridge for a few weeks.

Tips & tricks
While Easter bark is very simple to make, with a few simple tips you can have the most success:
- Work quickly with the second layer of melted chocolate. You’ll need to add all of the toppings to your Easter bunny bark before the chocolate has set or they won’t stay in place.
- It is very important that you do not overheat the chocolate, it will seize up if you do! Stop between microwaving and stir well so that the chocolate heats evenly and melts fully.
- Be VERY careful when removing the bowls of chocolate from the microwave. They will be very hot. Use a heatproof bowl and stir gently to avoid burns.

FAQ
While it is not necessary for candy bark to be refrigerated, it will extend its shelf life. However, feel free to store you Easter bark in an airtight container at room temperature away from direct sunlight.
This fun chocolate treat breaks into pieces, much like tree bark does. So that is where it gets its name — from it’s fun and breakable structure!

I’m a sucker for the Cadbury dark chocolate mini eggs, too, and wouldn’t you know that I have a bag of ’em in my pantry, just WAITING for a recipe like this? I think the girls and I will have fun making this chocolate bark for Easter. (Or I’ll have fun making it the night before and put it in their Easter baskets. Since, you know, one of those Easter baskets will basically be for me since the 6-month-old can’t enjoy candy yet, haha.)
Thanks for sharing this, Suze! It looks AMAZING and so colorful AND fun!
