About this Poison Apple Halloween Punch recipe

I dreamed up this delicious Halloween party punch while thinking about Snow White one day. This punch is inspired by the punch that Evil Queen makes — except I went a different route on the color instead of making another green Halloween drink (hello, midori sour).

This yummy cinnamon apple boozy punch turned out better than I even thought it would! It’s really simple to make and kind of reminds me of candy, making it even better for the Halloween.

Guests are going to love this warming, yet sweet, poison apple punch. It’s the perfect thing to serve while everyone is in costume — for extra fun you can dress as the Evil Queen!

Halloween cocktails are some of my favorite creations. It’s like creating spooky decorations and a tasty drink all-in-one. This easy poison apple Halloween punch has become one of my favorites and I bet you’ll love it too!

Why you’ll love this recipe

Grab a large punch bowl and let’s get to making the best Halloween punch:

  • While I love mixing up a batch of this for Halloween, you could actually make this for Thanksgiving or Christmas and just call it apple punch.
  • Hosting a large group? Double the recipe to make an extra large batch so that there’s plenty to go around.
  • This easy punch is super festive and bubbly. It’s a crowd favorite that is perfect to serve to a bunch of guests.

Tools & glassware

To make this easy punch, you’ll need a large punch bowl and ladle for serving. Make sure that you also have glasses to serve the punch! You’ll also need measuring cups to measure out each ingredient and a large spoon to stir everything together.

If planning to serve this punch with ice, then grab a bundt pan to make an ice ring that you can put in the punch bowl to keep the drink cold.

Ingredients

Here’s a list of all the Halloween punch ingredients that you need:

  • cinnamon whiskey: I used Fireball — the other ingredients really quell it so it isn’t so cloying!
  • apple cider: Both store-bought apple cider and homemade apple cider will work in this punch recipe.
  • lemon juice
  • ginger ale
  • maple syrup

Garnishes for Poison Apple Halloween Punch

I like to simply use cinnamon sticks, green apples and star anise pods as the garnishes. Bobbing for apples is a fun Halloween pastime, so this fits right in. Star anise actually look a little bit like spiders, which I think is a nice touch, but you could use plastic spiders too!

Dehydrated orange slices would be a great option for a garnish on a glass of punch. Skull ice cubes could be super fun too!

You can add some cinnamon sugar to the rim of the serving glasses as a nice added touch of sweetness!

To make this extra spooky, you can add dry ice (with extreme caution). Take some tips from my roundup of dry ice cocktails to learn how to use dry ice in drinks to make a smoke effect.

Substitutions & variations

Non-alcoholic version: Make this kid friendly by simply omitting the cinnamon whiskey and stirring in some apple cider spice mix. It’ll still be super tasty without it!

Whiskey substitutes : You could swap the Fireball for plain bourbon or use my recipe for cinnamon whiskey.

Fizzy substitutes: Ginger beer is a good swap for ginger ale if that’s what you have on hand. Lemon-lime soda will work too but will change the flavor of the punch a little bit.

Sweetener swaps: While maple syrup adds to the fall flavors in this punch, you can sweeten this drink with something like simple syrup, agave syrup or even brown sugar syrup.

Before serving, add ginger ale and the ice ring if you made one. Wait to add the ginger ale and ice until you’re ready to serve it, such as right as the party starts, so it’s extra fizzy and not flat.

Tips & tricks

With these few simple tips, your poison apple punch will turn out extra great:

  • I recommend chilling all ingredients before mixing them together. It’ll keep the punch cold and make the flavors stand out.
  • Always taste test before serving. You can add more of any ingredient to balance out the flavors how you like them.
  • Don’t have a punch bowl? You can make this punch in a large pitcher instead!

Food pairings

Serve this party punch with all of your favorite appetizers! It pairs wonderfully with ooey gooey air fryer mozzarella sticks (they look like fingers!) or crunchy homemade Chex mix with Halloween M&M’s mixed in.

Other party favorites, like a charcuterie board or air fryer chicken wings would go great with this drink too.

Want to serve sweet treat with your punch? These Halloween cake pops would be just perfect, and so would these spooky spiderweb tarts. Or stick with a simple candy cookie or some caramel popcorn.

This punch tastes like fall, so you don’t even have to limit yourself to Halloween parties. Serve it up for Thanksgiving with turkey and all the fixings or Christmas gatherings.

FAQ

Can you put dry ice in punch for Halloween?

Yes, but you must do it correctly and always use gloves when handling dry ice. But it does create a super cool smoking effect that is great for a spooky Halloween punch.

How do you keep punch cold?

Keep punch cold without watering it down by creating a large ice ring. Freeze water in a bundt pan and then pop it out to place in the punch bowl!
