I’ve loved baking ever since I was a kid, but when I was in college, it came to a halt. My dorm only had one oven in the tiny basement kitchenette, and I learned the hard way that it didn’t work well. (Sorry, undercooked brownies and sad roommates.)

And that made it hard to put to use the baking supplies my mom had given me. So, I had to get creative with no-bake treats! I made tons of drop cookies and cereal bars, to the delight of my dorm-mates. Ever since then, I have fallen in love with sharing food with friends, family and neighbors. I love to see the delight on their faces!

One of the no-bake treats I used to make for my dorm-mates was cereal bars — we’d get late-night cravings for something sweet, but all we had on hand was cereal. Time to get creative! While cereal is great for breakfast, it magically tastes better at midnight.

Especially when you mix it with gooey marshmallows, melted butter, honey and a sprinkling of sea salt. I partnered with Post to bring you one of my favorite cereal bar recipes — No-Bake Salted Honey Cereal Bars. Click through for the recipe! // susannah

The key with cereal bars is to use your favorite cereal! Post has a bunch of flavors of cereal that would work. I used the classic Honey Bunches of Oats Honey Roasted, but for an added crunch you could try Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds! If you’re gluten-free, Post now has Honey Bunches of Oats Gluten Free Chocolate that you could substitute. They also make Crunch O’s and Kung Fu Panda Po Power Crunch that you could use. (All available at Wal-Mart, where I found mine.)
