Your ultimate guide to fall mocktails

I’ll be the first to admit that fall drinks can feel a bit intimidating. Sure, pumpkin is a safe flavor to fall back on (it’s everywhere, after all), but what else is out there?

Where summer mocktails are ultra refreshing, fall mocktails are the perfect thing to cozy up with on a crisp day. They use flavors of the season and warm spices to create sippers that work for a weekday pick-me-up and as an option when entertaining.

The great thing about mocktails is that they feel fancy, but aren’t typically that difficult to make. They’re a great alternative to sparkling water or soda to help ensure everyone has something to enjoy!

Quick tips for hosting

If you’re picking a signature drink for your event, mocktails are a great choice since they don’t contain alcohol (so everyone can partake). Even if they’re not the star, I like to include a mocktail on the menu every time I host so that anyone who doesn’t want to imbibe has something other than water to enjoy.

When you’ve got a room full of guests, big batches are your best friend. Doing the heavy lifting ahead of time gets you out from behind the bar and ensures you have plenty of time to mingle. You can pick a drink that’s already meant for a crowd, like homemade apple cider, or multiply the recipe for your desired drink. (If you do this, skip the ice and garnishes until you’re ready to serve — that way your mocktails don’t get watered down and garnishes look their best.) For warm drinks, use a crock pot to keep things at the right temperature all evening long.

What to serve with fall mocktails

Comfort food is the perfect compliment to the cozy flavors of these sippers. Puff pastry cheese twists are low effort but high impact — try adding them to your charcuterie board for an extra crunch.

Spinach artichoke dip is a quick recipe to pull together, but hits the spot on a cool day. Pair it with homemade pita chips to really build on the flavors.

For a touch of sweetness, try easy pumpkin bread. You’ll taste fall in each bite! Chai molasses cookies are the perfect blend of sweet and spicy that are always crowd-pleasers.
