Drizzled with honey, this Bacon, Fig and Goat Cheese Crostini appetizer makes for a flavorful bite to serve at a late-summer gathering.
It’s fig season! Such a joyful time. Fig season is short and sweet — literally.
Figs are succulent, purple bulbs of sweet-tart juice and crunchy little seeds, no bigger than a ping-pong ball.
They’re beautiful little fruits, but they sure don’t last very long. Figs don’t keep more than a couple days after they’re picked.
I first discovered my love for figs a few years ago when my aunt let me taste one of the fruits from the fig tree in her yard.
I’ve always loved fig newton cookies (which are made with a fig jam in the middle) but the real thing is more remarkable.
The year I tried them for the first time, my aunt roasted a bunch of sliced figs, dotted them with goat cheese and drizzled honey over top.
We snacked on these little bites while sipping wine and catching up — I’ll never forget that combo.
The last few years have brought harsher winters that meant fewer figs and a much sadder me.
These Bacon, Fig and Goat Cheese Crostini are an appetizer of equal caliber.
That same incredible combination is served over top crisp baguette slices, sprinkled with crisp, salty bacon and topped with a sprig of thyme for color and flavor.
Drizzle them with your favorite local honey or a bit of fig syrup.
Served at a late summer party, this two-bite Bacon, Fig and Goat Cheese Crostini is a stunning and flavorful amuse-bouche that will totally wow your guests.
Serve it with a fig old-fashioned cocktail or a fig sparkler.
Enjoy, and quick! Before fig season is over…

I’m definitely trying to eat up all the figs while they’re here! My mom has fig trees so I get a little delivery every time I see her. Love this for a quick, easy but elegant appetizer – simple enough to whip up when friends stop by. Pinned!

Okay this is BEAUTIFUL. And so delicious!!! But — WHERE ARE YOU FINDING FRESH FIGS?! I try every year and since we moved away from the neighbors with the actual fig tree I always come up empty. I go so desperate I actually planted a fig tree. Now we wait 5 years.
