Your ultimate guide to baby shower drinks

When it comes to baby showers, gone are the days of simple pink and blue themes. Now, themes like ‘Baby in Bloom,’ ‘Mama to Bee’ or woodland are popular. Consider the interest of the guest of honor, tie into the nursery decor or simply select your favorite.

The good news is that no matter the theme, there’s likely a drink that fits. Sure, you could serve things like juice or coffee, but where’s the fun in that? Personally, I like to lean into a theme, adding in garnishes and other fun touches.

Since the guest of honor won’t be imbibing, zero-proof spirits are going to be your best friend as a host. They swap into favorite recipes to transform them into drinks everyone can enjoy — and you can make them yourself!

Quick tips for hosting

When you’re hosting, the last thing you want is to get stuck behind the bar. There are a few things you can do ahead of time to make things easier on yourself:

  1. bar-style setup like a mimosa bar gives guests the chance to DIY their drinks, ensuring everyone enjoys their sip. It’s also great for those who want to skip the booze, letting them mix a drink that hits all the right notes.
  2. Batch cocktails are an easy way to make sure there’s plenty of drinks to enjoy without having someone stuck playing bartender. Before the shower starts, make any simple syrup your recipe needs, squeeze any fresh juices and mix all ingredients beforehand, then chill until party time. Don’t forget to wait on the bubbles — only add anything like champagne, club soda, ginger beer, etc. right before things kick off to ensure the drinks stay bubbly for a few hours.
  3. Multiply a recipe if the mom-to-be has a favorite so everyone can partake. Simply multiply the ingredients by whatever amount you need, then convert to cups for easy measuring. When you visit the recipe card on any recipe on this site, use the +/- buttons at the top of any recipe card to scale the recipe as you need to.

What to serve at a baby shower

For a baby shower, much like any other gathering, you’ll want to serve snacks that are easy to eat. Charcuterie cups are a great alternative to a charcuterie board, giving guests a grab-and-go bite that allows them to mingle.

Spinach artichoke wonton cups are the perfect combination of crispy and creamy and would work well at a celebrations set throughout the day. If you’re opting for a brunch celebration, try blueberry coffee cake alongside a quiche for a sweet and savory combo that everyone will love.

It’s not a party without dessert! Mini strawberry shortcakes pack a visual punch and are no-bake treats. Keep on trend with celebrating the new mini addition to your crew with mini lemon tarts, adding a bright bite to the party.
