Why you’ll love this recipe

What’s not to love about my favorite Alabama slammer shot recipe?

  • You only need four ingredients to make this shot! That’s even less ingredients than most easy cocktails.
  • The fun orange color of the drink makes this perfect for parties. Not only does it taste delicious, but it looks delicious!
  • These shots are really easy to make, even if you’re not an experienced bartender.

Tools & glassware

You really only need a few basic bar tools to make this recipe. Make sure you’ve got a standard cocktail shaker * and a jigger to measure each ingredient. You’ll also need a shot glass to strain the mixture into and drink from! But that’s really all that you need.

If you plan to make your own fresh orange juice, make sure you have a citrus juicer * as well and maybe a fine-mesh strainer * to remove the pulp.

Ingredients

Make sure that you have these ingredients on hand to make an Alabama slammer shot:

  • Southern Comfort whiskey: Southern Comfort is a brand of whiskey that has a lightly sweet flavor and a hint of spice. You could use cinnamon whiskey or plain whiskey instead if you don’t have SoCo on hand.
  • Amaretto: Amaretto is an almond-flavored liqueur that is a bit sweet and a little bitter. Its almond flavor is derived from apricot kernels, bitter almonds, peach stones or almonds. Disaronno is probably the most popular brand out there, but Amaretto Di Amore is another well-known brand.
  • Sloe gin: This type of gin is infused with sloe berries, which come from the blackthorn tree. Purplish red in color, it adds a fruity vibe to the base of herbal gin. It’s. akey ingredient in a sloe gin fizz.
  • Orange juice: For the best flavor, use fresh squeezed orange juice. You can also grab bottled orange juice, just make sure that it is 100% juice and free of pulp (not as nice in a shot, IMO).
