Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Smoothie recipe
Smoothies are wonderful breakfasts. I love how easy they are to throw into a blender, mix them up and drink!
This Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Smoothie is no exception, and it’s one of my favorite recipes for a busy morning.
I love it because it can be made vegan or dairy-free, which is sometimes something I desire!
Ingredients
You only need a few ingredients to make this chocolate-covered strawberry smoothie. Here’s what you’ll need:
- Greek yogurt, or your favorite yogurt
- frozen strawberries
- milk or dairy-free milk
- unsweetened cocoa powder
- chia seeds
- honey or maple syrup
If you’d like to garnish your smoothie, top it with a few cacao nibs and a fresh strawberry.
Dairy-free chocolate strawberry smoothie
You can make this recipe vegan and dairy-free by swapping the yogurt and milk for dairy-free option.
I often make this recipe dairy-free, because I am lactose intolerant. I use a non-dairy yogurt alternative.
Yogurt alternative can be made from soy milk or other nut milks, and it can come in a variety of flavors, like vanilla, strawberry, peach or blueberry. It often even contains live, active yogurt cultures.
For the milk, use your favorite non-dairy milk. I flit between using lactose-free milk, almond milk and soy milk. It depends on my mood and what’s in the fridge!
Vegan chocolate strawberry smoothie
To make this recipe vegan, follow all the instructions above for making it dairy-free, but you’ll also need to swap the honey for a vegan sweetener, such as:
- maple syrup
- agave nectar
- dates
- simple syrup
- sugar
I’m not a vegan, but because of my lactose intolerance, I do appreciate a good vegan smoothie and all of these options taste great!
Chocolate strawberry smoothie recipe
It’s almost strawberry season, and I cannot wait to eat those juicy, ruby beauties by the bushel!
One of my favorite treats are chocolate-covered strawberries — I could eat them all day, every day! Including breakfast.
Making smoothies for breakfast is a great way to sneak them into my day.
I recommend using frozen strawberries in this recipe, but you can use fresh ones. If you do, you may want to add 1 cup of ice to keep it cold.
There’s nothing like a chocolate-covered strawberry, but trust me: this simple dessert becomes a stunning breakfast beverage.
You’ll be sipping on this all summer long, as it tastes just like a chocolate-covered strawberry!
Bonus points for me that it can be dairy-free! Cheers!
