Pie-Baking Essentials

It’s the most wonderful time of the year: Pie season! I love making pies, especially with homemade crust. I always have a few balls of pie dough in the freezer ready to be made into pies. Apple, pumpkin, chocolate, berry, ice cream, chess — you name it and I probably love it.

And you should love it too. Making pie from scratch is not as hard as it sounds. I always make my pie crusts from Martha Stewart’s basic påte brisée recipe and I knead it in a bowl with my pastry blender. You have to do some planning to make it in advance enough, or you can just keep it in the freezer until you need it like I do. Making pies takes patience and practice! (For bonus points, you can make your own ice cream to go with your holiday pies. Here’s everything you need to make homemade homemade ice cream!)

Here are my favorite pie-baking essentials:

You have #2 linked to a pie crust shield but in the photo it looks like something different? Would you mind emailing me the link to this tool? I’m in charge of dessert this year :]

LOVING this list of pie essentials. I have a Ceramic Ruffled Pie Dish in my collection, and it is my absolute favorite. I actually gifted it to both my mom and mother-in-law because both made statements about how my pie crusts turned out beautifully in it. 😀

Thanks Erin! I have one too and I loooove it! I love that you were able to gift them to those lovely ladies. I bet they love them! There is just nothing like a good pie dish, is there?
