Father’s Day is right around the corner — Sunday, June 15. Whenever I casually ask my dad if there’s anything he’d like for Father’s Day (or his birthday or Christmas), he’s usually pretty modest and doesn’t have a very long list, if he has one at all. “Oh, you don’t have to get me anything,” is a pretty common response. I can’t do that, of course, so that always means I have to think creatively. In case your dad is anything like mine, here are a few ideas for your dear ol’ pops.
My dad is my road trip buddy. He’s very easygoing and lets me stop to Instagram whenever I like. (Honestly, he would probably even post a photo too!) He likes technology as much as I do or, rather, he taught me lots about it. A very hard worker, he always has some yard or house project going on, and he’s awesome in the kitchen and on the grill to boot. We spent many happy Saturday mornings of my childhood making pancakes, waffles and French toast together.
My dad would say to never underestimate the power of a good card. A thoughtfully composed, handwritten letter is just as special — if not more so — than anything you could buy. (I happen to love the Star Wars-themed one below!) How are you honoring your father this year? // susannah

I am thinking your handwritten cards and letters from all his children would be the next publishing project your dad might do…….you know how we all loved Mama’s notes and letters
