About this Christmas Spa Water recipe

The holidays are all about impressions: The prettiest lights, the tastiest appetizers, the sparkliest outfit!

I am here for all of it.

To me, that’s one of the most fun parts of the holiday season — the widespread permission to go all out. Now, I don’t need permission the rest of the year, but there’s something about the holiday over-the-top-ness that I just adore.

If you’re hosting a holiday party this year, you probably have already thought about the ways to impress your guests.

Don’t overlook the drink menu, especially for the non-drinkers! Christmas mocktails are a great way to make everyone feel included during the holiday season.

With just a few ingredients, you can even turn the water into something special.

Enter this Christmas Spa Water. It’s certainly a statement piece for your holiday table, and everyone will be so impressed.

What is spa water?

Spa water, also called infused water, is water that’s soaked with fresh fruits, fresh herbs and/or spices. After a few hours of infusion, the water will take on the flavor of the additions.

For example, this strawberry basil infused spa water adopts the flavors of fresh berries and fresh basil. Veggies work too, as you’ll find out with this refreshing cucumber lemon and mint spa water.

This Christmas water is similar to my Winter Citrus Spa Water, but even easier!

Ingredients

For the best spa water, I recommend using filtered water rather than tap water for a purer taste. I use this water filter pitcher in my kitchen.

You can use bottled water or water from your fridge. However, tap water is totally fine!

You can also use sparkling water, but I recommend serving it right away if you do to keep the carbonation fresh.

My favorite additions for this Christmas Spa Water are fresh cranberries, a splash of lemon juice, and fresh rosemary sprigs. But other options you could use include:

  • pomegranate arils
  • sliced oranges
  • whole cinnamon sticks
  • whole star anise
  • fresh mint leaves

You will also need ice. I use the ice from my fridge, but you can also pick up a bag of ice the night before or make your own in trays.

How to make Christmas Spa Water

To prepare a pitcher of icy Christmas Spa Water, you’ll need an ice maker and a large pitcher.

You can use any pitcher you have. I use this tall and skinny 90-ounce glass pitcher.

Put the cranberries in first. All of them. Add a squeeze of lemon juice. I recommend a whole lemon’s worth, but it’s up to you!

Then fill your pitcher with ice. All the way to the top is fine. It’s going to melt eventually anyway!

Add your cold water next. Then give the ice a few gentle pokes and stirs with the end of a wooden spoon to wiggle the cranberries in.

Be gentle because the cranberries like to float to the top, so if you mix too much, they’ll all end up on top and you won’t get that just-mixed-in look.

Pop in a few sprigs of rosemary and you are all set! Place that puppy on the drinks table and your guests are ready to hydrate with some infused water.

What does Christmas Spa Water taste like?

Honestly, just like water. With a hint of lemon and rosemary. The longer the water infuses, the stronger it will taste.

The cranberries don’t really give off a ton of flavor or color, but they sure do have that festive holiday look. If you want a strong cranberry flavor, I suggest trying one of my cranberry cocktails or mocktails, such as cranberry mimosas, cranberry lime mocktail, or white cranberry mule.

The lemon juice adds the most flavor of all, so be generous if you want your Christmas Spa Water to have a bit more flavor.

I just know your guests are going to ooh and ahh over this.

I mean, it’s just water. But why can’t the water pitcher be just as festive as your punch bowl *?!
