Your ultimate guide to New Year’s Eve cocktails

Whenever the time comes to count down to the new year, all I can think is: How can it be that this year’s coming to a close already? I feel like time is flashing by at light speed.

Champagne may be the traditional drink for toasts, but that doesn’t mean you need to limit yourself. Bubbly stands strong on its own, but when you mix it into a cocktail, that’s where the real magic happens.

Sparkling cocktails feel effortlessly elegant, making them perfect for New Year’s Eve. Whether it’s a small celebration or a big bash, one of these drinks is sure to impress!

Quick tips for hosting

When it comes to making drinks for a crowd, batch cocktails are your best friend. Make as much as you can ahead of time — make any simple syrup your recipe needs, squeeze any fresh juices and mix all ingredients beforehand, then chill until party time. BUT you’ll want to skip adding the bubbly until the party is ready to start so it will remain bubbly for a few hours.

If you want to offer a non-alcoholic version, use something like sparkling cider, ginger ale or even club soda. It’s best to select a beverage that meshes well with the other ingredients in the drink.

Don’t forget the garnishes! NYE means getting dressed up and your drink should be no exception! Sparkling cocktail picks, festive drink stirrers or even glammed up fruit like sugared cranberries make the perfect toppers.

What to serve with New Year’s Eve cocktails

Your menu depends on the type of celebration you’re having. For an upscale affair, try charcuterie cups or baked brie. If it’s something more laid-back, spinach artichoke dip is easy and filling.

No matter what kind of party you throw, you can’t go wrong with champagne cupcakes! You could also top these sugar cookies bars with sparkly sprinkles as another sweet treat.
