Sangrita is a sweet-and-savory tomato drink that works as a chaser to tequila shots. You can also sip it on its own or mix it into cocktails.

tomato juice

orange juice

lime juice

dashes hot sauce
to taste

jalapeño or ancho chile pepper
halved with seeds left in
Instructions
In a mixing bowl, combine tomato juice, orange juice, lime juice, hot sauce, salt and pepper. Stir together.
Add the pepper halves with seeds and leave them in for 15-30 minutes, depending on how spicy you’d like it to be.
Remove the pepper halves.
Decant into a pitcher. Refrigerate until ready to drink or serve immediately over ice.
Notes
Here are some tips and tricks for making this recipe:
Be sure the tomato juice you use doesn’t have added sugars.
Use fresh citrus juice for the best flavor.
Taste the mixture after 15 minutes of leaving in the peppers. Leave them in longer if you’d prefer more spice.
Add a splash of pomegranate juice or grenadine for a sweeter flavor.
