24ouncesginger aleginger beer or club soda (optional)
Instructions
In a large pitcher, combine red wine, orange juice, brandy (or orange liqueur) and honey. Stir until well combined.
Add orange slices, diced apple and cinnamon sticks.
Top with soda, if desired.
Add ice and serve immediately, or chill in the pitcher until ready to serve, which allows the flavors to meld together.
Pour in wine glasses with ice. Add some of the infused fruit to each glass.
Notes
Wine: The best wine to use are Spanish red wines like Rioja, Tempranillo and Garnacha. But you can use any bottle of red wine, preferably a dry one like Cabernet Sauvignon or Pinot Noir. Fruit: You’ll want to use fresh fruit in the recipe. Frozen fruit will get too squishy and melt, which will dilute the flavor. As much as possible, use really ripe fruit. This way, you get sweeter notes in the sangria.
