Instructions
Pour some chili-lime seasoning on a plate. Rub a lime wedge around the edge of a margarita glass or rocks glass. Roll the rim of the glass in the chili-lime seasoning to coat the rim.
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, add tequila, passion fruit liqueur, passion fruit purée, lime juice and agave nectar. Shake well.
Strain into the prepared glass with ice. Garnish with a lime slice.
Notes
Best tequila: While any tequila will work, a silver or blanco tequila is traditionally used in margaritas, as it has a clean and crisp flavor profile. The clear color also doesn’t affect the look of this colorful cocktail.Sweetener: Substitute agave nectar with simple syrup or honey. You may need to adjust the sweetness to taste depending on the tartness of your passion fruit purée.Non-alcoholic version: There are two ways: One is to omit the tequila and triple sec, and increase the amount of passion fruit and lime juice to taste. You can also add a splash of soda water for fizz. The other is to replace the tequila with a zero-proof alternative.Big batch: You can mix the ingredients (excluding the ice) in a pitcher and store it in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Then, just pour it over rimmed glasses filled with ice when your guests arrive. You may need to stir the ingredients together again, as the ingredients may settle. Use the +/- buttons at the top of the recipe card to adjust the ingredient amounts.
