This playful, two-part concoction topped with crispy bacon and chased with orange juice is fun for St. Patrick’s Day or a regular Friday night. Or have it at brunch, since it’s a breakfast shot!
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine Irish whiskey and butterscotch schnapps. Shake well.
Pour the whiskey and schnapps mixture into a small 1.5-ounce shot glass.
Pour the orange juice into a separate 2-ounce shot glass.
Garnish each whiskey shot with a piece of cooked bacon.
To enjoy, first drink the whiskey and schnapps shot, then chase it with the orange juice shot, and finish by taking a bite of the bacon garnish.
Notes
Variations and substitutions
No Irish whiskey? You can use bourbon or rye, but the shots won’t taste quite the same. They will still be good though! No butterscotch schnapps? You can use maple syrup or maple liqueur. No OJ? Serve them with an orange slice instead to use as your chaser, à la a shot of tequila with lime.Omissions: You can skip the bacon and orange juice if you really want to. The shots will taste like maple syrup on their own. However, the tangy orange juice and salty bacon make for a well-rounded breakfast flavor.
