sweetenersuch as sugar, simple syrup or a sugar-free sweetener optional
Instructions
Heat water to 195°F (90.5°C) to 205°F (96°C).
If using whole beans, measure out coffee beans and coarsely grind them.
Add the coffee grounds to the French press. Top with a little bit of water so the grounds bloom, and let rest for 1 minute. Blooming coffee grounds helps to improve the flavor.
Fill the carafe with hot water. Stir together water and grounds.
Add the lid with the plunger up. Do not push it down — leave it this way for 4 minutes.
Slowly push down the plunger to the bottom of the carafe.
Pour into coffee mugs. Enjoy black or add cream and sugar, if desired.
Notes
The above measurements will make a medium-strong cup of coffee. Adjust the amount of grounds you use for a stronger or weaker brew.
