These Chai Sugar Cookies are light and fluffy, sweet and filled with warm chai spices from real tea. They bake up tender with a classic sugar cookie glaze on top. They’re simple to make, cozy for the holidays and a great choice for gifting or cookie trays.
Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
Cream together butter, oil, white sugar, ½ cup powdered sugar and vanilla extract.
½ cup unsalted butter, ¼ cup vegetable oil, ½ cup white sugar, 1½ cup powdered sugar, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Stir in the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and contents of 1 chai tea bag.
1¾ cups all purpose flour, 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder, ½ teaspoon baking soda, ¼ teaspoon salt, 2 bags chai tea
Use a 2-tablespoon cookie scoop to scoop 6 balls of cookie dough onto a baking sheet and bake for about 12 minutes. Then repeat with the rest of the dough and let cool.
While the cookies are cooling, make the icing by mixing together the remaining 1 cup powdered sugar and milk.
2 tablespoons whole milk, 1½ cup powdered sugar
Ice the cookies, and if you would like, lightly sprinkle a small amount of chai tea from 1 bag of tea over the icing before it sets.
2 bags chai tea
