Instructions
In a mixing glass filled with ice, combine brandy and simple syrup.
Use a bar spoon to gently stir the mixture until chilled.
Strain into a rocks glass with a large ice cube. If desired, top with 1 to 2 ounces of soda for a Wisconsin-style variation.
Garnish with a cocktail cherry and a piece of orange zest.
Notes
For a non-alcoholic drink, use zero-proof spirits and non-alcoholic bitters.Be sure to stir slowly and gently. Spirit-forward cocktails dilute more easily.For a Wisconsin-style Brandy Old-Fashioned: Add 1 to 2 ounces of soda after straining.
