a fine mesh strainer a cheesecloth a mason jar or bottle with a lid
Prep Time: 3.5 hrs
½ pound almonds ¾ cup cold water 2 cups boiling water 1 ½ cups sugar
makes: 1 liter
2 teaspoons orange blossom water ¾ teaspoon almond extract 1 ounce vodka
Add almonds and cold water to a blender. Blend until roughly chopped.
Pour your almond mixture into a bowl and top with boiling water. Stir to combine.
Let your almonds sit for three hours.
Use cheesecloth to separate the pulp from the liquid. Discard the pulp.
Add your almond mixture to a saucepan with sugar over medium heat, Don't boil!
Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and add orange blossom, almond extract and vodka if using.
Pour into a jar and refrigerate for up to one month while you enjoy.
