for spicy margaritas
a sharp paring knife a mason jar or bottle with a lid
Prep Time: 10 Min
1 jalapeño (or other spicy pepper such as poblano or habanero) 2 cups blanco tequila
makes: 2 cups
Remove stems. Discard seeds for a milder spice level. Slice thinly.
You will need 2 cups of tequila.
Add jalapeños and cover with tequila. Set aside for at least 24 hours.
Use a clean spoon to sample the tequila and check the spice level. The peppers will yellow over time — this is normal.
Strain out the peppers. Now your tequila is ready to mix into cocktails!
Add more blanco tequila to dilute it. Not spicy enough? Infuse for more time. You may want to add another pepper.
Adjust the spice level. Use more peppers & seeds for more spice.
