One thing I love about North Carolina is its rich community of creators. Instagram has an amazing ability to take us to faraway places with another’s photographs, but it applies to local places too. I love using Instagram as a travel guide. Last week, I asked my followers to recommend some spots in Asheville and they responded with enough suggestions to fill a small book. There is no way I could have visited them all in one trip!
Instagram is also a great way to discover new places near you — for road trips or new spots in town. Continuing with the North Carolina theme this week, here are a few of my favorite North Carolina Instagrammers! (And here are some more general favorites!) // susannah

Karie Reinerston (@shelterprotectsyou) runs SHELTER, a design firm + store in Asheville, N.C. Karie shares sneak peeks of SHELTER’s handbags, home design and travels.
The feed of Kyle Britt (@kyle_jbritt) is simply stunning slice of rustic North Carolina beauty. His photos focus on rustic and abandoned structures.
Wedding photographers Brett Donar (@brettarthur) and Jessica Donar (@jessicadonar) are the minds behind Brett & Jessica. I can’t share one without the other! Both share on Instagram gorgeous glimpses into their lives and jobs.
Brian Schindler (@brianschindler) and I share a hometown of Charlotte. Brian’s feed captures the urban Queen City as well as asides from his wedding photography business.
North Carolina native Justin Quick’s (@justinisjoy) approach to Instagram is both graphic and minimal. He photographs bold, colorful patterns and portraits that are mesmerizing.
Another local favorite is Emily Chidester (@emilychidester). Emily, who is also a local wedding photographer, shares snippets of her pretty life in Charlotte.
Elizabeth Boyette (@elizabeth_boyette) along with her husband Chris (@chrisboyette) run Good South, a design and branding agency in Raleigh. Both Elizabeth and Chris share beautiful shots of great design plus their eats and travels around the Land of the Pines.
Asheville-based photographer and illustrator Tim Robison (@timrobisonjr) has an incredible feed full of food and landscape shots. His rustic style always has me wishing I were somewhere else.
Did I miss anyone awesome? Let me know in the comments! (All photos belong to their photographers.)
