Apple cider season is arguably the best season.
Every fall, I love venturing to local apple orchards to pick apples and try their spiced apple cider and apple cider doughnuts.
(If you’re in the Charlotte or Greenville areas, Windy Hill Orchard is my favorite.)
Sadly I didn’t make it to one this year, but you better believe I bought a gallon of apple cider as soon as I saw it at the grocery store. Finally!
Apple cider cocktails are so delicious, and I look forward to making new ones every year.
This Spiced Apple Cider Rum Punch recipe is still a favorite of mine for the holidays. Spiced Apple Cider Shandies are also a great way to enjoy a fall craft beer along with my favorite fall ingredient.
I am also always looking for a reason to make Apple Cider Jell-O Shots with Bourbon.
But this Apple Cider Moscow Mule recipe is something special.
With lots of crushed ice and a little bit of lime juice, apple cider, ginger beer and the booze of your choice, you have all the makings of a stunning autumn cocktail.
What kind of alcohol is used in an Apple Cider Moscow Mule?
You have so many choices, my friend. The beauty of mules is that they are really versatile.
Traditionally, a Moscow mule is made with vodka, lime juice and ginger beer, but if you sub out the booze, you still have a great cocktail.
With gin, it’s a Gin-Gin Mule. With rum, a Dark + Stormy. With bourbon, a Kentucky Mule.
For this one, I used applejack, but you can also use bourbon, vodka or spiced rum.
What is applejack?
Applejack is an alcohol produced from apples, dating back to the colonial era.
It is essentially an apple whiskey or apple brandy, depending on how it is made. And it is so very delicious.
I picked up a bottle of applejack from Coppercraft Distillery when I was in Michigan for work a few months ago, and it pairs beautifully with apple cider in this Apple Cider Moscow Mule.
Hope you enjoy this lovely fall drink!
It would be lovely for your Thanksgiving table, I think!
