Are you the kind of person who shops for holiday gifts months in advance, or do you wait until the last minute?
I’m somewhere in the middle. I try to think of Christmas gifts for my friends and family all year long, then I stash them away in a special spot and get them out to wrap once our tree is up.
But there’s always someone lingering on the list, it seems, that has me shopping at the last second!
I used to do holiday gift guides every year on the blog, and you guys loved them. I still love reading them on other blogs (Re: the hard-to-buy-for people on my shopping list!) but I thought it would be fun to share with you some gift ideas!
So I decided to bring them back this year, just for you!
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing some themed gift guides to help you shop for your people.
I decided to start with — what else? — a cocktail theme! If you are a regular reader, you will know that I love all things cocktails.
This list has everything from homemade gifts you can make to fun items you can buy them for their home bar (including a home bar!).
Hopefully you will find something your friends and family will love here, but if not, don’t worry! I’ve got a bunch more gift guides coming your way over the next few weeks.
Gifts for the Cocktail Lover
Buy or make your cocktail lover a gift they will treasure! From fun ingredients to homemade gifts to bar accessories, these gifts are sure to make your mixologist happy this holiday.
Bar Carts
Give your home bartender a place to stash their bar goodies! They are a pricier gift, but if that's in your budget, they'll love having a statement piece like this in hteir home!
Every home bartender needs a bar cart! It's a great place to stash booze, bitters, cocktail books and more. I love the modern gold look of this one — it's very similar to the one I have in my house!
I love this trendy bar cart with its clean lines and modern shape. The black color means its contents will help give the room pops of color. (Also, I am wondering: Can one have two bar carts?)
DIY Gifts
These gifts take a little more time, but your cocktail lover will adore it. As any mixologist knows, craft cocktails take time!
I created this DIY Booze Advent Calendar a couple years ago, and we love using it! Fill this easy DIY project with mini bottles of unique or beloved spirits that your mixologist will love!
This copycat Bailey's Irish Cream is a fantastic holiday gift for any coffee fiend. It makes a great Irish coffee, or you can drink it on the rocks. This recipe is one of my favorites!
Any cocktail lover will adore having a homemade Kahlua coffee liqueur to enjoy for the holidays. It's great in White Russians or over ice.
My favorite homemade liqueur is this Spiced Rum. It's perfect for holiday punches and will last for months until tiki cocktail season.
Send your cocktail lover home with a drink they can make on the airplane! These easy-to-assemble kits are always a hit.
Bar Tools & Accessories
Help your mixologist stock their bar with the best tools for cocktail mixing!
Tons of cocktails come together with a few shakes, and a good shaker is essential. But why can't they be a little fun? I love this blue enamel one for a pop of color on the bar.
This citrus squeezer comes in three sizes — lime, lemon and orange — with corresponding bright colors. It's a worthy addition to any kitchen or bar!
A reamer is a must for your margarita lovers and fresh OJ makers. They make squeezing the pump and juice out of any citrus fruit SO easy! Plus they're beautiful on any bar cart too.
These cocktail bitters are a staple in our house. They are made here in North Carolina and we love this orange & fig combo for all our old fashioneds.
Presentation
How the cocktail looks is everything. Get some cute glasses, garnishes or coasters to help your home bartender take their drinks to the next level.
A cute straw takes any cocktail up a notch, even if you don't have any other garnishes on hand. They make a great bar cart decoration, too!
No home bar is complete without some fancy glassware! Most avid home bartenders are likely to have some version of staples like champagne flutes, old-fashioned glasses and Collins glasses, so some sparkly coupes will be a welcome addition.
Don't forget a coaster! Help your drink-lovers protect their furniture in style.

What a fun round-up! My dad has become quite the at-home bartender in recent years, so these are some great ideas to round out his supplies.

Oh Anne, that’s so nice! I am sure your dad would love some of these things. How fun that he is enjoying home bartending! I am partial, of course. 😉
