Is it cold where you live yet? Not here. Not yet.

The weather has thought about getting cold, but the forecast is looking to be on the warm side this weekend. I always find the beginning of fall to be a bit of an awkward time in North Carolina.

I usually have to add some winter outfits to my summer wardrobe until around mid-November, when it will finally be cold enough to ditch the warm-weather clothes entirely!

The climate waivers so much here, making the transition from summer to winter kind-of rocky.

It’s the iffiness of the weather that has me looking for cocktails that offer the warmth of autumn flavors while still offering a refreshing texture and temperature for the hotter days.

This Maple Bourbon Milkshake does just that.

It’s thick, boozy and dripping with the light, woody flavor of maple syrup, the deep, oaky flavor of bourbon and the sheer sweetness of vanilla.

I got my maple syrup on vacation in Vermont last year! I’ve been saving it for a special occasion. This milkshake totally counts.

If you don’t have 100% maple syrup, you can get it online! It’s also available in most grocery stores.

A lighter color syrup will have a sweeter flavor, but dark maple syrup is more complex. You do you!

If you happen across bourbon-barrel aged maple syrup, that will make this milkshake super special with an extra punch of bourbon flavor.

Throw all these ingredients in your blender, and give it a whirl. Blend it together until all the ingredients are combined, about 30 seconds or so.

Then pour it into a glass and add a straw.

That’s when you’ll discover the Maple Bourbon Milkshake is irresistible!

It’s the kind of cocktail that will make all your senses explode — warm yet cold, sweet and creamy. It’s definitely an experience, so get out your blender!

You can easily make this milkshake in larger quantities if you desire.

(But I’ll understand if you want to keep it all to yourself.)

Enjoy your weekend, friends! // susannah
