Kitchen Road Trip: Maryland

Kitchen Road Trip: Maryland // Feast + West

Happy Memorial Day! I hope you’re enjoying a sunny, relaxing Monday, wherever you are! All this talk of summer has me reminiscing about summers past. The last two summers I spent some time visiting my siblings in Maryland. My sister was attending graduate school in Baltimore, and my brother had moved to a Maryland suburb just outside of Washington, D.C. It has been nice getting to know Maryland through those trips — it’s such a sweet little state with lots of history and spirit.

Baltimore, also known as Charm City, is an artsy place chock-full of quirky shops, tasty restaurants and creative people. The waterfront neighborhood of Fells Point was my favorite, as it is close to the bustling and picturesque harbor. We also visited the brick-lined streets of historic Ellicott City and the capital city of Annapolis. A side trip to Chesapeake Bay is on my to-do list for my next visit. Oh, and the crab cakes! I freaking love crab cakes, and no one does them better than Maryland.  Guess I better go back! In the meantime, these Maryland goodies will have to tide me over. // susannah
