To start off this Monday, I’d like to congratulate California Chrome for having an awesome horse name. (But not as awesome as Old Feather.) Oh, and for winning the 140th Kentucky Derby this weekend. Did you watch? If so, did you try a Basil Julep?
Coincidentally, next up on the Kitchen Road Trip itinerary is Kentucky. It’s kind of nice to be back in the South for this round-up — it’s been a while! I mentioned on Friday that I spent a little time in Louisville in college. I was so impressed with the vibrant nightlife, the stunning public art all over downtown and, of course, the food. It was my first time eating derby pie and drinking a mint julep. I’ve been dreaming about that experience ever since, thus I very much enjoyed looking for food and home items made in the Bluegrass State for this week’s post. Kentucky, I’ll be back for you. // susannah
P.S. Happy Cinco de Mayo! In case you missed it, last week I shared a few appetizer and cocktail recipes you could make tonight to celebrate.
